EKHO book blast $ 50 Amazon or Paypal contest

EKHO Cover newEKHO by Marie D. Jones

Ten-year-old Elvis Jones is tired of being picked on, taunted, and teased by the bullies at his elementary school, so he does what any smart, technologically brilliant kid his age would do: he creates EKHO, the Evil Kid Hunting Organization, a sophisticated network of kid spies and secret agents that utilize a variety of cool gadgets to stay one step ahead of the enemy – the bullies. They hire kids, make them swear allegiance to the organization, and train them as Commandos, Privates, and Elite Spies. As kids rise through the ranks, the missions, posted on an encrypted EKHO website, require more smarts and skill, especially when the bullies form their own counterspy group called DEKE (Destroy EKHO Kids Everywhere).

It’s all in good fun, until the kids of EKHO must put their pretend skills to use for far more serious, and dangerous, missions. As field agents come across evidence of more sinister forces, they now have to deal with the strange, weird, and the unknown as they look for the truth about the bizarre and creepy threats to their school, their families, and their own lives. They experience betrayal, intrigue, infiltration and counter-espionage as well as teachers and adults who act more mysterious with each passing day, which leaves Elvis and his EKHO team wondering: who can you trust when the person standing next to you might not be entirely human?

Pistols & Pies (Sweet Bites Mysteries) byHeather Justesen

The gigantic cake for the new city rec center opening is going to be great advertising for Tess's new bakery, until she finds the city councilman who oversaw the project dead. Tess vows to stay out of this one, until his troubled teenaged step-son is fingered for the murder and Tess jumps in to prove he's innocent. Trouble is, someone else wants her to leave it alone, and isn't afraid to take her out to protect their identity.

Tess and her growing gang of amateur sleuths have to scramble to catch the killer before one of them ends up dead.

My Review: Pistols & Pies
4 stars ebook & audio book

I had won audio book from Heather Justesen. It down loaded easy on my kindle fire. I liked the story and the reader very well.
Did not like when I wanted to hurry and finish the book I could not. It was great to listen to book while I got things done.
After the second day I broke down and bought the ebook to finish.(I am a fast reader)

So I would rather buy ebook for my kindle fire and use text to talk feature when I want to listen to book and than switch to reading when I want to.

Pistols & Pies is the second book in the Sweet Bites Mysteries series. It is the first one I have read. It is a cute cozy mystery.
I like the plot, the characters, the setting. Also like that it is a clean read. Did make me want to eat sweets.

I don't like all the recipes that distract from the story. I would rather have them all in the back of the book or front instead of at chapters.

I Tess and wanted her to date Jack. but like Shawn to. Tess runs a bakery and makes wedding cakes. She left Chicago to come to small town where her Grandmother used to live to open her business. She finds dead bodies and gets involved in figuring who the murder is.
Now someone is trying to kill her.

Her co-worker from Chicago has left his job to come work part time for her.

The mystery was pretty good. I did figure out a part of it before it was revealed. But not all of it. Lots of action, drama and romance.

I would read more of Heather's stories in the future.

Warrior's Moon by Jaclyn M. Hawkes Review & giveaway $25 Amazon gift card

Warrior’s Moon

Medieval Historical Romance by Jaclyn M. Hawkes

Never in all the kingdom has there been a more brave and protective champion. Nor such a loyal and capable maiden. And they loved each other desperately.

But is their love strong enough to withstand all their dark age holds—danger, feudalism, disease, and unfair oppression?

Yes, they truly loved each other desperately.

They loved their kingdom more.

Author Jaclyn M. Hawkes

Jaclyn M. Hawkes grew up in Utah with 6 sisters, 4 brothers and any number of pets. (It was never boring!) She got a bachelor’s degree, had a career and traveled extensively before settling down to her life’s work of being the mother of four magnificent and sometimes challenging children. She loves shellfish, the out of doors, the youth and hearing her children laugh. She and her fine husband, their family, and their sometimes very large pets, now live in a mountain valley in northern Utah, where it smells like heaven and kids still move sprinkler pipe.

My Review: Warrior's Moon by Jaclyn M. Hawkes

5 stars

I did not put the book down once I started reading it. The characters right off the bat go into your heart and stay their.
I even shed a tear or two. I was not sure how much I would like it just by reading the blurb. I truly admire the characters.

The plot is simple a boy and girl growing up. Close friends till something else starts growing. They are kept apart while he learns to be a knight. But the story is so much more. So much richer in the characters. So willing to do the right thing for many than be selfish. Abuse of power by some. Others sacrifice.

It is full of humor, action, drama, of good and bad and wonderful characters. Of Knights and battles even a fancy masquerade ball with the Prince and Princess. It is also a clean read.

I was sad when the book was done because I wanted to enjoy it longer.

The setting is a time of small villages, ruled under powerful Lords who charge taxes of their tenants.
With a good King in power. A time of Knights and horses.

This is my third book I have read now of Jaclyn M. Hawkes and I have loved all three of them. I will definitely read more books of hers in the future.

I was given this ebook to read and asked in return to give honest review of it and be part of its blog tour.

Paperback: 194 pages
ISBN-13: 978-1939816221
E-Book File Size: 1384 KB
ASIN: B00GF4ZZA0

Synopsis
Economic theories can predict many things – just not the death of a renowned Economics professor. When Professor Edmund DeBeyer is found dead in his office, strangled to death by his own Ph.D. hood, the police don’t have to look further than his colleagues in the Economics Department for suspects. After all, Edmund was the most despised member of the department. C.J. Whitmore, the department’s only tenured female, (who also has a penchant for wearing pink cowboy boots to class) resolves to get to the bottom of the mystery using economic principles. Comparing tracking down murder suspects to to selecting a used car, she attempts to discern the real deals from the “lemons.” That is, which suspects are really telling the truth and which are lying to protect their guilt. Will C.J. be able to pick the lemon before her clever adversary strikes again?

About This Author

J.T. Toman lives in Boulder, Colorado. She received her Ph.D. in economics from Yale University and has taught econometrics at the University of Sydney and the University of Colorado at Boulder. She also has a degree in zookeeping from Pikes Peak Community College and has cared for everything from butterflies to elephants. She now teaches math at Front Range Community College, and truly believes fractions are useful in everyday life.

In her spare time, J.T. Toman joins the rest of Colorado hiking, biking and skiing. However, much like her cats, she finds food more inspiring than scenery. J.T. particularly loves home- grown tomatoes, udon noodles and tall glasses of chocolate milk, but not at the same time.

Picking Lemons is her first novel.

My Reviews: Picking Lemons

4 STARS

I liked this more than I thought I would. Just because I saw the word economics I was afraid it would be boring. There were little parts that were but not many. I did figure out a few of the mysteries but not all of them.

I really liked C.J. Whitmore and her pink boots. She hid her true personality till she made tenure. Now that she has tenure she is not hiding. She teaches, does research and is busy. She is single. She starts to figure out where everyone was and if they were telling the truth.

One character is a very old Professor, a young man who was denied tenure, black man who might win a Nobel prize, only woman with tenure, head of department, the wife.
The rest have alibies or were still on vacation.

One of C.J.'s classes wanted to use economics to solve the case as a class project. They wanted to find the lemon car in the used car business to compare it too.

Their are a lot of professors who I did not like but to kill them. The police for having two murders were not really involved in the story much.
We find most of the information about the murders by gossip.

I like the story of example by telling that no one liked Professor Edmund DeBeyer by his not winning a job when he ran unopposed.

The story is set in Eaton University close to New York.

It would be interesting to read another C.J. Whitmore Mystery see where it leads too next.

I was given this ebook for purpose of reviewing it by the author. All opinions are mine.

Home to Seaview Key by Sherryl Woods

Description

New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods reveals that the most delightful surprises may await right in your own backyard!

Falling for a handsome stranger on the very morning they meet is hardly what recently divorced Abby Miller planned for her return to Seaview Key. Hoping to mend an old friendship and to give back to the community she loves, Abby's definitely not looking for love.

For ex-soldier Seth Landry, Seaview Key seems like the perfect place to heal a broken heart…eventually. And when he rescues a beautiful woman on the beach, his nightmares about the past are eclipsed by daydreams about the future.

Neither Abby nor Seth are looking for forever, but powerful love has its own timetable. And taking a chance on the future will test their courage in ways neither of them could possibly have anticipated

My Review: Home to Seaview Key

4 STARS

This book had some serious flirting going on. It makes you smile. I loved the characters how they all had different relationships with each other in the book. The characters made you want to see how they are doing as well. They are in each other faces and give lots of advice. Weather they wanted it or not.

The plot is simple. Abby Miller has come home after her divorce. She wants to develop her property on the island. Her best friend and boyfriend in high school have married. She wants to reconnect with Hannah. She gets rescued from drowning by Seth. They are both weary but can't stop flirting with each other.

Hannah is feeling stressed and afraid that her breast cancer will come back. She is also afraid that Luke will like his old girlfriend better than her imperfect body.

The setting is Seaview Key Island. A small friendly island.

There is plenty of drama going on the island. The characters are what sells the story and keep your attention till the end.
There are a lot of little characters that help still the show of all ages. From babies to senior citizens who all have opinions and are not afraid to give them to each other. I did not want the story to end.

Their are a couple of love scenes that I skipped over.

I would come back and read more books about Seaview Key and the characters.

The pacing was fine. Makes you want to go to Seaview Key and stay awhile.

Cider Brook by Carla Neggers (Swift River Valley #3)

Description

Unlikely partners bound by circumstance…or by fate?

Being rescued by a good-looking, bad-boy firefighter isn't how Samantha Bennett expected to start her stay in Knights Bridge, Massachusetts. Now she has everyone's attention—especially that of Justin Sloan, her rescuer, who wants to know why she was camped out in an abandoned old New England cider mill.

Samantha is a treasure hunter who has returned to Knights Bridge to solve a 300-year-old mystery and salvage her good name. Justin remembers her well. He's the one who alerted her late mentor to her iffy past and got her fired. But just because he doesn't trust her doesn't mean he can resist her. Samantha is daring, determined, seized by wanderlust—everything that strong, stoic Justin never knew he wanted. Until now…

My Review: Cider Brook by Carla Neggers

4 STARS

Cider Brook is the #3 in Swift River Valley. I like Swift River Valley. There are a lot of characters from past books that are back.
New characters. Small town life. Lots of secrets, romance, pirates. A welcoming feeling to the town.

Samantha studies pirates. She is following clues to Knights Bridge. She has her Uncle & cousin drop her and her backpack in middle of town. She finds her way to old Cider Mill in bad weather and breaks in. Soon she realizes it is on fire.

Justin is checking for damage when he sees the Mill on fire and his padlock off the door. He finds Samantha on the floor and gets her out in time.

This is the second time Samantha has been to Knights Bridge. Last time someone saw her and talked to her new boss and she was fired for not revealing her secrets to him. Samantha does not lie but she is not forthcoming with everything either.

Justin does not trust Samantha and he is having her watched.

I really like Justin and Samantha's family they bring a lot of fun, and life to the story. Lots of family connections with the characters.
I like how they share history of the area as part of mystery with each book and drama with modern day couples. It makes the book so much more. It does make me want to eat apples. I wonder what the next book in the series will be.

Their is one love scene that I just skipped over.
I will keep reading books by Carla Neggers in the future.

Blackberry Pie Murder (Hannah Swensen #17) by Joanne Fluke

Description

It's been a sleepy summer for the folks of Lake Eden, Minnesota. In fact, it's been a whole four months since anyone in the Swensen family has come across a dead body—a detail that just made the front page of the local paper. And that means Hannah Swensen can finally focus on her bakery…or can she?

Life is never really quiet for Hannah. After all, her mother's wedding is a little over a month away and guess who Delores put in charge of the wedding plans? But just when Hannah believes her biggest question will be whether to use buttercream or fondant for the wedding cake, she accidentally hits a man with her cookie truck while driving down a winding country road. And not just any man, but Keith Branson, quarterback for the local high school some twenty years past. Hannah is wracked with guilt, until Doc Knight's autopsy reveals the victim was dead before Hannah even hit him, his shirt covered in stains that could come from one thing: Blackberry Pie. Now Hannah's on the trail of a pie baker with a penchant for murder. And it's going to take more than sugar and spice to catch this killer…

My Review: Blackberry Pie Murder (Hannah Swensen #17) by Joanne Fluke

3 STARS

This the first Hannah Swensen book that I have read. The characters are likable. The book makes you hungry for cookies and other deserts. Good group of friends and family. Fun smart pets. Mystery and suspense was good. Some good humor. Clean read.

What I did not like was I could not get lost in the story. Every chapter had a good recipe in it but it broke up the story.
I would rather have the recipe in the back so it did not interfere with the story and they would be easier to find if you wanted to make them.

Also I was not ready for the book to end. I was expecting more of a resolution to some of the problems. I don't know if all the books end like that because the next story just picks up or what.

I liked the jail scene with all the visitors Hannah received. Some of it made me laugh a lot.
Some of the scenes in the book were really sad because you know their are a lot of kids stuck in that kind of life.

The plot Hannah hit someone with her van and killed him. No one knows who or what he was doing their. So Hannah asks for help from her friends to figure out who he was.

There are a lot of good friends and family that rally around Hannah and help her to figure out the mystery. I know that Hannah has dated two of the guys and one wants to marry her but I don't how they are all good friends.

I would love to go back and read some of the other 16 Hannah Swensen novels to find out more about their past. I would also like to see how the problems that are not solved yet will work out in the future.

Hannah owns part of a cookie shop and everyday she is baking cookies and trying them out on her friends.

Her Secret Cowboy by Marin Thomas (Cash Brothers #3)

Description

The Cowboy And The Preacher's Daughter

Years ago, Will Cash wasn't interested in being a dad. So Marsha Bugler left town to raise her baby alone. But when her father's health begins to fail, she realizes she needs to return to Arizona—and introduce Will to his boy. Marsha is nervous to face Will not only because she lied, but because she's never stopped thinking about her cowboy crush.

Will is shocked to discover he has a son. And he can hardly believe the changes in Marsha. She's strong, sexy and a Ph.D. while Will's still a part-time cowboy living in a bunkhouse with his brothers. What does he have to offer her and his teenage son? Will has a lot to prove if he's going to get what he wants—the family he never knew he had.

My Review: Her Secret Cowboy by Marin Thomas

3 STARS

I enjoyed all the different characters. How the brothers Cash are close. I like how even though Will was upset he tried to work close to his son. I enjoyed the story. Was rooting for them as a family and their bonding.

I can understand Ryan always with his kindle reading. He is not into doing much physical. Where Will works construction and rodeo. He has problems reading. I liked that Ryan wanted to help him and figured out a plan to do it.

I did not understand why Will blamed Marsha for not telling him about his son. He knew she was pregnant. He told her to get rid of it. He made that choice. Marsha did not.

I could understand Buck keeping the secret for a short period of time but that long no.

Did not like all the sex scenes.

The plot Will finds out he has a 14 year old son. Ryan lives with his mom in California. He is really smart and is always reading. Marsha is bringing Ryan for the whole summer to visit her parents. Her father is dying of cancer. So she plans to tell everyone who is Ryan's father.

The setting for the book is Stagecoach, Arizona. A lot of it on the family farm.

I want to go read the first two books in the series. They sound good to me. I also wonder where Buck went to.

I was given this ebook to read and asked to give honest review of it in exchange by Netgalley and Harlequin.

My Review: Trapped by Revenge

4 STARS

This is the 5 book in the series but the first one I have read. I liked it so much that I was looking at getting another one and was happy that I already have one on my kindle. I know what I want to read next.

This is a fun detective series. The suspense was good till they revealed it in the story. It also had some funny moments in the book. Good characters. I found myself even liking the mob boss and his right hand man. It had a good mix of elements in the story. Once I got into it I did not want to put the book down till I had finished it.

I really like the characters. Shelby is fun, smart and has secret power that helps and hinders her. She loves her husband Chris. She also has 2 children Has friends in low places and high. They all want to help her when it looks like she might be arrested for murder.

Chris her husband is a lawyer. He does not like it that his wife has worked for a mob boss. Chris is a defense lawyer which comes in handy.

Uncle Joey is a mob boss who knows Shelby's talent and uses it to help him. He has come to like her. He figures it is because of him that Shelby has been set up.

Ramos works close to Uncle Joey and really likes Shelby. Shelby finds him to be good looking and tempted by him. Ramos likes her to and is willing to help her.

She has worked with the police before with her friend Dimples she calls him. He does not think she is guilty and helps her too.

The funniest part of the story was the poker game or maybe the golf game. You have to laugh at those scenes.

I can see me getting the rest of Colleen's Shelby Nichols Adventure books and reading them soon.
I have now read carrots #1 Shelby adventure and review can be found http://readalot-rhonda1111.blogspot.com/2014/01/carrots-shelby-nichols-adventure-shelby.html. I have also bought the #2 book of the series.

Love Spell by Stan Crowe Blog Tour review & giveaway $25 Amazon or Paypal gift card

Love Spell

Clint Christopherson’s love life is a running joke. When a crazed gypsy curses him with the best wish he could ever ask for, the punchline stops being funny. Now, even his barest touch drives girls mad for him. Desperate to reverse the curse, he turns to his last hope: an attractive private investigator who may be able to locate his missing gypsy. If only Clint knew who it was he just hired…

Author Stan Crowe

Stan had a pretty normal, middle-class American youth. He was lucky enough to change that by convincing an exceptional woman to marry him in 2000, setting him on a much more fulfilling life course.
Four years later, Brigham Young University awarded him with a Bachelors of Science in civil and environmental engineering. He then he spent several years designing homes, prescribing work for bridges, and even exploring the mortgage industry.
In the midst of all this, he produced two science fiction anthologies in 2006 and 2007. In 2012, Breezy Reads Publishing picked up his romantic comedy The Cinderella Project. And thus he transformed himself from Captain Kirk into Don Juan.
Stan lives with his wife, children (final count to be determined) and two cats in Utah.

My Review:Love Spell by Stan Crowe (A Comedy of Love #2)

4 STARS

Love Spell is a romantic comedy. It is a fun over the top romance. At times silly, action packed and full of drama plus humor and a clean read.

The plot Clint made a wish that backfires. If he touches a women than they fall in love with him, He is stalked by dangerous women. He wants the curse to end so he gets a private investigator to hunt for the gypsy. It makes you laugh and leaves you smiling.

Clint has good and bad faults. The women are crazy because he touches them some more than others. You want things to work out for Clint.

The setting is different western states in modern times.

The pacing was pretty good. Slow in a few places but overall was nice.

Lesson to learn be careful what you wish for you might get it.

If you like slapstick, romantic comedy, car chases, entertaining and clean read try Love Spell. I would read another story by Stan Crowe in the future based on this book.

I was given this ebook to read for purpose of reviewing it and being part of its blog tour.

Books in the Zoe Chambers Mystery Series:

CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE #1

LOST LEGACY #2 (on sale Fall 2014)

My Review:CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE by Annette Dashofy

4 STARS

I like Zoe Chambers. This had pretty good suspense. I guessed right on small parts and missed the big pictures by far. Boy was there plenty of drama. Plenty of suspects. Clean read. Plenty of secrets.

Zoe Chambers is a paramedic in a small township. She rents have a house and takes care of the barn so she can keep her horse. Zoe was a party girl in high school and that still impacts her life today.

A old boyfriend of hers married her best friend. Now he is murdered. She does not believe some of the rumors she is hearing about him. His wife is still her good friend. She is also close to his two teenagers.

Because it is a small township the county is taken over the murder case. The local Police Chief Pete does not like that. Pete likes to flirt with Zoe. His secretary has been arrested for stealing a computer.

It being a small town a lot of things cross with one another.

I like Pete and Zoe and want them to start dating. They are keeping secrets from each other.

The setting is Monongahela County, Pennsylvania. Lots of farm land.

I did not want to put the book down until I had finished reading it. I want to read the next book in the series Lost Legacy and see how everyone is and what happens next for the town.

Cooper Creek: Home is where the heart is for this Oklahoma family

My Review:The Cowboy's Reunited Family by Brenda Minton

4 stars

I have only read a few Cooper Creek novels but have enjoyed all of them that I have read.
This book deals with some hard subjects. Forgiveness, Child illness.
Lots of family that are close together. Some have a easier time welcoming back Jana and forgiving her. While others have a harder time.

The plot is Jana Cooper took her toddler and left the country and moved a lot so Blake could not find his daughter. Now Jana is back her daughter is really ill and she needs Blake.

Blake is glad that his daughter Lindsay is back home. He will do whatever it takes to help her. He could turn Lindsay against Jana. But he knows it would not be the best thing for Lindsay. Blake is really angry at Jana and knows he needs to let it go.

Jana is willing to come back to the States to save Lindsay's life. She has no idea if she would be arrested when she entered the Country. She needs to say she is sorry and ask forgiveness.

This is a clean read, lots of drama, emotional, does talk about prayer, but not preachy.

I want to go back and read some of the Cooper Creek novels that I have missed and look forward to some more in the future I hope.

In The Hunt for Cinderella series finale by USA TODAY bestselling author Allison Leigh, a surprise pregnancy takes things to the next level…

Shea Weatherby doesn't believe in fairy-tale endings, especially after watching her mother have so many of them with so many different husbands! So when Shea's Prince Charming comes along, she's skeptical. When she gets pregnant after a one-night stand with said Prince Charming, she panics.

Paxton Merrick made millions crafting custom yachts for Seattle's ĂĽberwealthy. But now, with Shea, his very own ship has come in. If his futile efforts to get her to be his Valentine are any indication, there are stormy seas ahead. But he'll do anything to get Shea to the altar when he finds out he's going to be a father!

My Review:Once Upon a Valentine by Allison Leigh

4 STARS

I liked Once Upon a Valentine. It is a cute story. I did skip over the love scenes. I enjoyed the characters.

Shea Weatherby is a reporter for one of her jobs. Shea does not believe in love and marriages. Her mom is on husband #6 and 7th marriage. She has reasons why it is hard for her.

Paxton Merrick is rich. He builds yachts. He has been trying to date Shea for three years. She keeps turning him down. He believes in love and marriage and only wants one.

Her boss keeps having her to stories on Paxton and his partner. Her second job is in the building next to Paxton's office. One stormy night her car does not start and She is stranded with Paxton in his office.

Paxton tries to pursue Shea and uses some humor. Everyone knows that Paxton likes Shea.

I like Paxton's family. How and where they all find out about them having a baby is funny.

I don't think I have read any stories in the Weaver series but I would like to.
Lots of dramas, romance and relationships and sex scenes in this story.

Description Tennessee Takedown by Lena Diaz

A SWAT officer in small-town Tennessee will do anything to protect the innocent beauty whose life has been put on the line in Lena Diaz's Tennesse Takedown

It can't be a coincidence that in the past twenty-four hours, three different thugs have tried to kill or abduct Ashley Parrish. Sexy SWAT team leader Dillon Gray saved her, but now he wonders why someone would want to murder the beautiful accountant…and why he finds her so infuriatingly attractive.

Then the FBI comes after Ashley for embezzlement, and Dillon knows he must protect her from a killer and prove she's being framed. Taking her on a hair-raising run through dangerous terrain barely fazes him. But wanting her for more than just one night scares the hell out of him.

My Review
Tennessee Takedown by Lena Diaz

4 STARS

I liked Tennessee Takedown. It is full of danger, action, drama, and mystery. Some of the mystery I figured out part of it. There was way more twists and turns I did not figure out. The action and suspense start on page 1 and hardly lets up till the end. Your not sure who is the good guys and the bad guys are.

I like how at the front of the book lists the characters and a little about them. I would love to come back and see more books dealing with the swat team. I liked most of the characters. Not the bad ones.

The body count ends up pretty high so a warning on that. There is also a love scene.

Ashley is smart and likeable character. She risks her life a few times to try and save the cops at different time. She deals with the tuff events pretty well. She does break down a few times and no one can blame her for that.

Dillon is a detective, a member of SWAT team and rancher plus a few surprises. He has trust issues. He risks his life a few times to save Ashley life.

I also liked all the Dukes of Hazard names thrown in.

Ashley goes from one danger after another and has no clue why someone is after her.

I would read another book by Lena Diaz based on this book.

Scraps of Evidence: Quilts of Love Series by Barbara Cameron Review

4 STARS

Scraps of Evidence was a good story. I did figure out pretty early who the murder was but it kept my interest in the story. I like the easy relationship Tess and Logan fall into. As they become partners and more. I also liked how both cared about the people around them. Everyone seemed to know Tess and she knew them. (I am personally lousy at names)

This is a fast clean read. Lots of drama, history of the area, lots or relationships between characters.
Tess is a strong smart woman who cares about people and wants to help. Tess became a cop after her best friend in high school was murdered the night of prom. Her Uncle is a policeman and helped her learn to be a detective. Tess shot got a promotion to Detective. Her new partner is from Chicago.

Logan has been a cop for years. He just closed a big case in Chicago that drew attention to him even down in Florida. He was asked here to join their force. He needed a change. He likes Tess off right away. He enjoys her showing him around.

Their first week get a murder that they have seen before. In fact he looks to be the same one that killed Sam Tess's friend all those years ago.

Warning this book might make you hungry. They talk a lot about food and where to eat.

Eyes Wide Open by Ted Dekker

Who am I?

My name is Christy Snow. I’m seventeen and I’m about to die. I’m buried in a coffin under tons of concrete. No one knows where I am. My heart sounds like a monster with clobber feet, running straight toward me. I’m lying on my back, soaked with sweat from the hair on my head to the soles of my feet. My hands and feet won’t stop shaking.

Some will say that I’m not really here. Some will say I’m delusional. Some will say that I don’t even exist. But who are they? I’m the one buried in a grave.

My name is Christy Snow. I’m seventeen. I’m about to die.

So who are you?

In a return to the kind of storytelling that made Showdown and Three unforgettable, Ted Dekker drags that question into the light with this modern day parable about how we see ourselves.

Humming with intensity and blindsided twists, Eyes Wide Open is raw adrenaline from the first page to the last pure escapism packed with inescapable truth. Not all is as it seems. Or is it? Strap yourself in for the ride of your life. Literally.

Author Ted Dekker

Ted Dekker is a New York Times best-selling author of over 30 novels. Heralded as a "master of suspense" by Library Journal, Dekker has sold millions worldwide, establishing himself as one of the most widely recognized author brands. Dekker was born to missionaries and grew up among cannibals in Indonesia, and his peculiar upbringing gives him a unique perspective outside the cultural bubble, allowing him the freedom to share provocative insights in his fiction. He resides in Austin, Texas with his wife and children. You can find him at Teddekker.com and Facebook.com/teddekker.

My Review: Eyes Wide Open by Ted Dekker

4 STARS

This is the first book that I have read by Ted Dekker. It started right off into a story grabbing my attention. I thought the book was going to go a different way. I was wrong. You never know where it is going to go. It has some deep discussions about sane or in sane. Is someone delusional or in reality.

Sometimes I was so mixed up and trying to understand where the story was going. Who was right or good guys or bad guys. This has many layers to the story. Their are a lot of twists and turns to the story.

The characters are interesting. Christy is 17 and alone in the world. She has no memory before the age of 13. Right away you feel for her. I would hate being so alone in the world.

Austin is a very smart guy. He is taking classes at Harvard. He too has no memory of his childhood. He suffers with major headaches.
He wants to help Christy when he gets her message that she was trapped. They were drawn to each other because they both had no memories about their younger years.

I think Eyes Wide Open was released first as 4 books. To me I only see one book. It would have really been confused reading each part of the book alone and waiting for the next part.
I would be interested in reading more from Ted Dekker in the future.

It definitely made me use my brain to read this book and understand where it was going.

I was given this book by Worthy Publishing and Netgalley ebook. In return I agreed to give honest review of book and be part of its blog tour.

Meet the Author:

Pamela R. Jensen was born into a family of 10 children, she was the oldest girl and second child. She spent a majority of her childhood entertaining her younger siblings. Drawing has always been apart of who she is, always sketching anything and everything. She can remember getting into trouble for drawing on the walls. She now lives with her husband a retired farmer and miner in Grantsville, UT. They have five children, and ten grandchildren who love to draw with grandma. I sketch and draw because I can’t stop. She tells her grandchildren, put a pencil or a pen in my hand and it automatically starts to draw, almost without thinking. She has made some pretty impressive doodles in her time.

My Review: Reverently Quietly by Pamela Jensen

4 STARS

Reverently Quietly is a activity book that is for children to use for church. It can be used for different ages. To
entertain children.

I like the paper dolls, pages for coloring and the different games with things that deal with church.
Some of the story and worded questions would be better for older children to read or reading at home maybe for Family Home Evening. I think if older children or parents were to read the pages to little children at church would not be quietly.

The paper dolls could be colored one day in church. Then parents could cut them out and maybe laminate them or clue a stiffer paper so could play with them more than once.

I would have loved to have had this book for my girls when they were younger to color at church to help keep them entertained. or use in primary talks for younger ones. Of course I would have had to have two books.

PASSAGE OF CRIME is a traditional English mystery that brings together the unlikely combination of a dowdy old Scotland Yard Inspector and Ernie Bisquets, a reformed pickpocket, in this whodunit set in contemporary London.

Synopsis
London’s East End, once known for poor boroughs and a derelict rail yard, is enjoying an optimistic resurgence. It’s becoming an affordable option for middleclass residents looking to have their pounds go further. Despite this sweeping out of old rubbish, a cautious step is still advised when passing by a few remaining dark alleys. If only Mary Walsh had listened.

Prophet Brown, a disfigured, pathetic little man, called Detective Inspector Flannel after stumbling upon the body of a young woman in one such alley. Flannel quickly realizes she is not the random victim she appears. Add to that, the crime scene is hauntingly reminiscent of an old unsolved case; a case that almost ended an otherwise brilliant career eight years ago.

For the moment, Prophet Brown is the only solid link between the two cases. He has been in the employ of a charismatic and well-connected Member of Parliament for 17 years–the very man Flannel unsuccessfully accused of the murders in the previous case.

Flannel finds himself navigating a very treacherous course. His superiors have warned him for the last time to tread cautiously around the MP, and the rising tide of the past threatens to pull him under. Reluctantly, Inspector Flannel turns to a most unlikely ally, a reformed pickpocket named Ernie Bisquets. Together they disentangle a mesh of old lies and current clues attempting to bring a ruthless murderer to justice–ignoring the dangerous notion of murder being a carefully disguised trait passed from one generation to the next.

My Review: Passage of Crime

4 stars

It started slow for me to get into the story and care about what was going on. Almost like just stating the facts about the murders. Once it got into todays events I started to connect and care about the crimes. It just might be to that I had not read any of the previous Ernie Bisquets Mysteries.

The plot was that 8 years ago there was some ladies killed a certain way and the Inspector Flannel had a suspect he was looking at. The newspapers got a hold of who he was looking at and he almost lost his job over it. Inspector Flannel was removed from the case.

Now it seems the killer is back killing again. Inspector Flannel is called by his snitch who found the victim. Inspector Flannel knows he can't be seen to investigate the case so he asks Ernie Bisquets to help look into it for him.

Ernie Bisquets is a pickpocket who is now going straight in fact he has been helping his mentor with some of his cases. He does not like keeping him in the dark. Ernie does not want anymore women murdered either. So he starts to look into who the latest victim was.
The characters I found out about slowly and took time for me to care about them. Once I got into the story more I liked the characters.

The pacing was slow to begin as it told about the past victims.

The setting is modern day London

I would like to go back and read the first two books of Ernie Bisquets and see what I missed and read more about the characters.
This is a clean read.

I was given this ebook to read for purpose of review and to be part of its book tour.

ISBN-13: 978-1939816184

Synopsis

Jeremiah Milk lived a life filled with emotional extremes. Amniotic band syndrome—a congenital condition—left his fingers and toes malformed. Ridiculed as a child, he became an adolescent hermit. As an adult, Jeremiah’s wounds healed when he landed a position as a park ranger and married a woman who loved him despite his physical appearance. But fate ripped his life to shreds when his wife and infant son died on the same night in separate calamities. Shortly thereafter, the tides turned once more as an act of Jeremiah’s ostensible benevolence translates into a financial boon. The book on Jeremiah’s life closes without mercy when he’s found murdered at Tripping Falls State Park.

Damon Lassard—Hollydale’s loveable civic leader, amateur sleuth, and Jeremiah’s neighbor—springs into action. He’s obstructed by a prickly lieutenant, but wriggles information unknown to the police from a colorful bevy of suspects. Aided by his best friend Rebecca and his reluctant ally Detective Gerry Sloman, Damon engineers a deep dive into Jeremiah’s past to solve the crime. Along the way, Damon strengthens his relationship with the breathtaking Bethany Krims, cracks a local horticultural mystery, and tries in vain to tame his wickedly sarcastic mother.

My Review: Don’t Cry Over Killed Milk by Stephen Kaminski

4 STARS

This plot keeps you guessing to who is the bad guys and who is innocent. Has some good plot twists and turns that kept you reading to find out the truth. I had never heard of Amniotic band syndrome. It is sad how people are treated because they are different.

Jeremiah Milk is killed before we get to know who he was and what his life was like we learn about little by little. It is hard to like Jeremiah because we only have facts about him. I wish we knew him a little bit better before he was murdered. I just felt pity and anger for his tough life.

Damon Lassard is our hero. He does not need to work so he volunteers around his town. He cares and likes to be involved and figures out problems. He is single but likes Bethany. Damon makes friends but he also gets into trouble with some for his snooping.

I liked the story and would read more from Stephen in the future but I could not really connect with the characters emotionally.
So not connected to my heart just the brain wanting to know what really happened to Jeremiah Milk.

There are plenty of suspects for us to meet and try and figure out what happened.

This is a clean smart story.

I was given this book by its author for purpose of reviewing and being part of its book tour.
